‘Buitenaardse hofmuziek’, zo worden de composities omschreven van Kaja Draksler voor 'Bare Unfolding', het derde album van haar octet. Haiku’s van de Japanse dichter Matsuo Basho vormden het uitgangspunt van de in elkaar verstrengelde vocalen van Laura Polence en Björk Níelsdóttir. Het meditatieve karakter van de poëzie wordt weerspiegeld door de hypnotiserende percussie van Onno Govaert en de fluisterende shakuhachi van Ab Baars. Tenorsax, klarinet, viool en contrabas zorgen voor contrast, met elementen ontleend aan avant-jazz en modern klassieke muziek.

Op de veelgeprezen eerdere albums Gledalec en Out For Stars putte het Kaja Draksler Octet al uit de poëzie van Pablo Neruda, Gregor Strniša en Robert Frost. De Sloveense pianist Kaja Draksler heeft een sterke band met Amsterdam, waar ze haar octet oprichtte. In dit ensemble benut ze de talenten van heel verschillende internationale spelers. FaKruTu Dakar Edition is a musical experience that spans from Dakar to Amsterdam, bringing together a passionate powerhouse of established musicians from Senegal, Netherlands, and the United States. Senegalese percussion and songs blend with the eclectic and electric grooves of the FaKruTu Trio. The band has built a reputation for delivering high-energy, soulful performances that get the audience on their feet.
