Traces
Rabbit&Haas
In Traces, piano duo Rabbit&Haas take the listener on a journey along the borders of Europe. Drawing on field recordings from Scandinavia, the Baltic states, Belarus, Ukraine, and Istanbul, Wilbert Bulsink has composed a cycle (Flags & Bones) for piano four-hands and sampler. A tapestry of diverse languages and sounds (ranging from cows, crickets, and church bells to the calls from minarets) intertwines with live piano, performed with virtuosity by Rabbit&Haas. Running alongside this is a second piano landscape: Kon-struct, a composition by Tamara Laverman, in which sounds emerge, shift in space, and are rearranged. Like traces of what once was and what still resonates.
Rabbit&Haas
In 2013, Tamara Laverman (Rabbit) and Hanke Scheffer (Haas) met at the ArtEZ Conservatory. The duo studied under Frank Peters and Frank van de Laar and participated in masterclasses led by Sepp Grotenhuis, Ellen Corver, and Katherine Dowling. The idea to form their own duo took shape quickly. In addition to interpreting both well-known and contemporary works, the duo also creates new music and develops interdisciplinary projects. Their collaborations include work with composer Ivo van Emmerik and mezzo-soprano Berber Vis, among others.
