Het gerenommeerde Poolse orkest Sinfonietta Cracovia brengt woensdag 23 oktober 2024 in het Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam "Mémoire de Mémoire" van Hanna Kulenty in wereldpremière. De Pools-Nederlandse componist scheef het werk voor strijkorkest, trompet en bastrombone in opdracht van de Poolse Ambassade ter gelegenheid van de bevrijding van Breda door de 1e Poolse Pantserdivisie, exact tachtig jaar geleden. De solisten zijn de Pools-Nederlandse trompettist Piotr Majoor en trombonist Adrian Gryciuk.

Hanna Kulenty beschrijft haar werken als "musique surrealistique": beeldende muziek vol repetitieve en ritmische elementen zoals we die ook kennen van Reich en Glass. Ook deze twee grootheden van de minimal music staan op het programma. Van Philip Glass brengt het orkest de Derde Symfonie en van Steve Reich Duet, voor twee soloviolen en strijkorkest. De Poolse componisten Panufnik en Kilar kleuren de minimalistische basis romantischer en vrijer in dan hun strak en conceptueel denkende Amerikaanse vakbroeders: zij schilderen landschappen in filmische sferen. Kilar werd vooral bekend door de muziek die hij schreef voor onder meer The Pianist, Dracula en The Truman Show.
