TJ's Pretty People

Teddy Sicking

Teddy Sicking

Violin combined with electronic effects and soulful vocals, compelling grooves, improvisation, and rich soundscapes—that is TJ’s Pretty People. The repertoire of the band, led by violinist and frontwoman Teddy Sicking (aka TJ), blends jazz fusion, modern jazz, neo-soul, and a touch of classical music. During the most recent edition of the Orange Jazz Days festival, the Dutch newspaper *de Volkskrant* hailed her as "the big surprise."

TJ's Pretty People draws inspiration from the music of Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Stevie Wonder, Yussef Dayes, and Moonchild. In 2026, performing under the name Teddy Sicking, the group won both the Conservatorium Talent Award and the Grachtenfestival Jazz Competition. Furthermore, they reached the final of Keep An Eye The Records 2026. "With her band TJ's Pretty People, she plays a surprising, fiery set in which she takes her violin in all sorts of directions," writes Jazznu.
