Wake The Dead

In Wake The Dead komen oude en nieuwe muziek, improvisatie en elektronica samen. Morris Kliphuis en Joanna Duda creëren een hypnotiserende klankwereld van zachte texturen, rusteloze ostinato’s en flarden melodie, verweven met de melancholische klank van barokviool, traverso, gamba en violone. Het muzikale verleden gaat in gesprek met het heden, en barokinstrumenten worden benaderd met een fris oor voor hun intieme weemoedige klank. Een caleidoscopische, ruimtelijke concertervaring.

Hoornist Kliphuis en pianiste Duda ontmoetten elkaar in 2019 tijdens de residency Sound Out in Polen. Ze delen een carrière in de jazzwereld, een achtergrond in de klassieke muziek, en combineren beiden live elektronica met hun akoestische instrument. In gesprekken over een gezamenlijk project werd hun fascinatie voor de klank van barokinstrumenten snel duidelijk.

FaKruTu Dakar Edition is a vibrant mix of Senegalese percussion, vocals, and electric grooves by the FaKruTu Trio. Recorded live at TivoliVredenburg during the 15th anniversary of the World Music Forum NL, the performance showcases energetic and soulful music that crosses cultural boundaries.

FaKruTu Dakar Edition is a musical experience that spans from Dakar to Amsterdam, bringing together a passionate powerhouse of established musicians from Senegal, Netherlands, and the United States. Senegalese percussion and songs blend with the eclectic and electric grooves of the FaKruTu Trio. The band has built a reputation for delivering high-energy, soulful performances that get the audience on their feet.
