Performed by Ab Baars (tenor saxophone), Ig Henneman (alto viola), Anne la Berge (piccolo), and Ansgar Wallenhorst (organ). "Galina U" is an ode to the Russian composer Galina Ustvolskaya, whose work I first encountered in 1989. It was a rare meeting with a kindred spirit. I was fascinated by the directness and extremes of her tight structures. The composition was written for the improvising Canadian/Dutch Queen Mab Trio (piano, bass clarinet, viola), of which I have been a member since 2002.Video: Sergio Gridelli Music Recording and Mixing: Micha de Kanter
