The Ruysdael Kwartet commissioned 25 composers, resulting in a diverse collection reflecting Dutch composition at the start of the 21st century. Many composers chose Ruysdael as their theme, with pieces like Landschap met Reiziger (Landscape with Traveler). The music touches on a variety of themes including space, stars, and spans a wide range of styles from lyrical to minimal music, microtonality, jazz, and world music.
