Inspired by Cecil Taylor’s flowing, energetic improvisations, this piece explores endless variations through open string textures. The Luna String Quartet’s collaboration brings this immersive material to life. The title, drawn from The History of Love, adds a poignant layer.

Performed by Luna String Quartet: Janneke van Prooijen (violin), Jellantsje de Vries (violin), Elisabeth Smalt (viola), Alistair Sung (cello)."Pianist/improviser Cecil Taylor's intuitive, energetic, loosely structured flow was a major inspiration for this composition. Endless, almost exhausting variations arise from material I often use as an improviser. Open string playing is an essential color throughout the composition. The Luna String Quartet was a fantastic sparring partner in developing the material. The title is a phrase from the novel The History of Love by Nicole Krauss, which has stayed with me."Video: Sergio Gridelli Music Recording and Mixing: Micha de Kanter
