Prologue
Joan Reinders
Bleeding Amazonia Part 1: Prologue by Joan Reinders is a musical journey into the heart of the Amazon, inspired by Thiago de Mello’s poem O silêncio da Floresta. Lílian Vieira’s evocative vocals and Job Helmers’ baritone saxophone bring to life the emotional power of the piece. Performed by the Millennium Jazz Orchestra, this fusion of jazz, classical, and Brazilian rhythms explores the fragile balance between humanity and nature, with solos from Bas Konings and Gregor Sperzel. The dynamic rhythm section of Dirk Balthaus, Bart Tarenskeen, Felix Schlarmann, and Vincent Spitters drives the piece forward. Recorded at Wisseloord Studios in 2021.
