Berceuse Nr. 2

Lucas Wiegerink

Berceuse Nr. 2 by Lukas Wiegerink, featuring Laura Koelmans as soloist, explores the ambiguity in Paul van Ostaijen's lullaby, where sweetness meets a darker edge. The performance by JIP Chamber Choir under Imre Ploeg captures this emotional complexity.

JIP Chamber Choir, conducted by Imre Ploeg, features Laura Koelmans as the soloist in Berceuse Nr. 2, composed by Lukas Wiegerink (1985). The piece is based on a poem by Paul van Ostaijen (Belgium, 1896–1928), which appears to be a gentle lullaby but may have a darker undertone. Wiegerink's composition aims to capture this ambiguity, blending softness with subtle tension. The choir, led by Imre Ploeg, brings this complex interplay to life, adding layers of emotion and nuance to the piece.
