Rembrandt Frerichs Trio performs a new composition by Dutch composer Rembrandt Frerichs, showcasing his evolving musical style. During the pandemic, Frerichs remained creatively active, composing a cello concerto, a piano concerto, and new works for his Trio. Drawing inspiration from icons like Bach and Messiaen, as well as Middle Eastern culture, Frerichs’ compositions reflect a rich blend of classical and contemporary elements. Recorded in Het Concertgemaal in 2021, this performance is part of a collaboration with VPRO Vrije Geluiden and New Music NOW. Due to the limitations of the pandemic, many new works by Dutch composers were not initially performed, but this video captures a powerful moment of artistic expression during that challenging time.
