Kamerkoor JIP performs Gewone Plataan Nr. 9406, a unique composition by Imre Ploeg, inspired by the monumental plane tree ‘9406’ located in Park Nieuweroord in Utrecht. The piece is based on the vibrations caused by the sap flow of this tree, which were recorded by Bert Barten and transformed into sound. Imre Ploeg then arranged these sounds for the choir and two soloists, Oene van Geel and Maryana Golovchenko. The result is a rough musical translation of the sap flow, capturing the essence of life inside the plane tree. The piece explores the natural and rhythmic pulse of the tree, symbolizing the vital processes that sustain life in nature. The performance is conducted by Imre Ploeg, with video by Tijmen de Vries.Kamerkoor JIP, founded in 2013 by brothers Jonathan and Imre Ploeg, is a project choir from Utrecht, the Netherlands. The choir focuses on presenting contemporary and lesser-known choral works, engaging with fundamental and relevant themes such as war, peace, migration, and the ecological crisis.
