High Dive, a collaboration between Morris Kliphuis and Lucky Fonz III, explores the fresh perspective of childhood through new songs, performed by the ensemble s t a r g a z e and the captivating voice of Pitou. Voor High Dive slaat Kliphuis wederom de armen ineen met tekstschrijver Lucky Fonz III. Tijdens November Music 2017 maakten ze al furore met de liedcyclus The Secret Diary of Nora Plain. De uitvoering is ditmaal in handen van het internationale ensemble s t a r g a z e dat eerder al samenwerkte met Terry Riley, Bill Frisell, Nils Frahm, John Cale en Jonny Greenwood van Radiohead. Daarnaast sluit zangeres Pitou zich aan bij het project, een rijzende ster binnen de Nederlandse popmuziek over wie de Engelse krant The Independent schreef: 'een van de meest fascinerende stemmen die dit jaar aan het oppervlak is gekomen'. In zijn nieuwe songs gaat Kliphuis op zoek naar de onbevangen blik van het kind. De veronachtzaamde details van alledag die volwassenen soms over het hoofd zien, maar ook onverwachte pareltjes die het leven zo mooi maken. Koren op de molen van Pitou die met haar kleurrijke, eigenzinnige stemgeluid ieders aandacht weet te vangen. Improvisatie en weelderige arrangementen gaan hand in hand, als een spannende mix van Louis Andriessen, Björk, Gil Evans en barokpop.
