JIP Chamber Choir is a project choir from Utrecht, the Netherlands, founded in 2013 by brothers Jonathan and Imre Ploeg. They aim to present new and unknown choir music from all over the world, focusing on fundamental themes like war and peace, the nomadic life, the refugee crisis, and the ecological crisis. In this piece, In Golvend Verlangen, composed by Max Knigge (1984), the sea and the land are portrayed as star-crossed lovers, forever parted from each other by Man. The lyrics, taken from KHOP, form the backdrop for this moving narrative about separation and longing.
